Compostable Local Material Links
MATERIAL INTERLINKs amongst COMMUNITY-LED NATURE SPACES: WOOD SHAVINGS, COFFEE GRONUDS, HOPING FOR SPENT HOPS.
Together with Bethnal Green Nature Reserve and Hollybush Teesdale TRA, we are developing a growing network of hyper-local collaborators—including London Greenwood, Hackney City Farm, and La Tostadora Coffee—to source organic waste materials for compost amelioration and soil ecology works.
The three sites, Bethnal Green Nature Reserve, Bethnal Green Ecology Garden and Rocky Park are all within 50metres from eachother. This hyper-local cluster of community-led growing and green spaces are further linked in through locally available compoatable waste materials from local businesses and park management teams. The woodshavings collected from London Green Wood and the coffeee chaff and spent coffee grounds have been used for compost ameriolation and for the log drainage works at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve.
