The wall structure forms an interesting anti-seismic design:
- Loose secondary timber structure: Nuki (horizontal brace) spans across the primary columns and Mabashira (vertical stud) is lapped and nailed to the horizontal brace while the top and the bottom of the vertical stud remain unfixed to the wall/cill plate to allow for movement.
- Bamboo laths: the horizontal bamboo lath is used in round, gently rests and tied with hemp rope to a bamboo pin, which is pinned through to the primary column. The loose connection allows for movement.
- Hemp rope reinforcemnt: a seies of hemp rope is tied to the horizontal bamboo lath and a ribbon of hemp rope is embedded onto each layer of earth plaster coat to give tensile reinforcement to withstand seismic movements.
Often times, buildings reveal their most attractive state under-construction. Temporary floor joists extend beyond the footprint to create scaffold and working surfaces to aid its own construction. Self-sufficient nature of building under-construction

Hut on Stilts started out from a roof frame. A decision to prefabricate frees one from building from ground up, but rather to build from top down. But always, one must check if your prefabricated pieces fit the narrow lane to the site.
